You may not modify, publish, transmit, distribute, display, create new works from, or exploit any of the content of this site, in whole or in part, without express written permission, except as noted in the sections below. USING ARTICLES ON WEBSITES, BLOGS, NEWSLETTERS, ETC:

BEFORE GOING FURTHER: READ EVERYTHING IN THIS SECTION!

(Taking the time to carefully read everything below will save you the time of contacting us with questions that are answered below, and will save us time writing back to you that the information is on this page!)

Plagiarism and/or other misuse of articles, excerpts, artwork, logos, and other intellectual property—whether intentional or not—is, unfortunately, all too common on the internet. We take this issue very seriously and hope you do, too. To prevent plagiarism and/or other misuse of our materials, we do not allow any articles, excerpts of articles, artwork, logos, or other materials to be copied and pasted on other websites, blogs, social media sites, electronic newsletters, etc.

However, permission to republish and/or reuse articles from this site may be granted, according to the specific details outlined in the different sections below. Please read these sections carefully; we've tried to cover a variety of options that might work for you.

In general, permission may be granted for articles to be republished (in print and electronically) so long as they're used as PDFs with security enabled, to prevent copying and pasting and/or other misuses of copyrighted material. As you'll see in the sections below, there are provisions for a "cut-and-paste" version of an article to be incorporated into another publication, so long as the final publication is turned into a PDF with security enabled.

Again, carefully read the sections below to understand the requirements for using articles from this site. In brief, you'll find helpful information for the following:

  • LINKING to this site and/or to a specific article on our site

  • USING ARTICLES ON YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG (what you can and cannot do, and "how")

  • USING ARTICLES IN PRINT (HARD COPY) NEWSLETTERS, TRAINING MANUALS, AND/OTHER OTHER PRINT PUBLICATIONS (what you can and cannot do, and "how")

  • USING ARTICLES IN E-MAILED NEWSLETTERS AND/OR E-NEWSLETTERS THAT ARE ARCHIVED ON WEBSITES:
    • Newsletters that are E-mailed (and not archived): adding a Disability is Natural article as an attachment.
    • Newsletters that are E-mailed (and not archived): adding a link to an article, instead of adding an article as an attachment.
    • Newsletters that are only archived (where an "announcement" is made, inviting your subscribers to read the archived newsletter on your website).
    • Newsletters that are both E-mailed and archived.

Thanks for your interest, and for taking the time to carefully read the information below.

UPLOADING AN ARTICLE TO YOUR WEBSITE (Bloggers: see next section)
If permission is granted, you can upload the requested article to your website, write a brief description about the article you wish to use, then create a link (with your URL) to the article, so visitors to your site can then download the article. If you have a "Resources" page on your website, we would appreciate your also including a link to the home page of our website (www.disabilityisnatural.com) on your "Resources" page.

Before uploading any article to your website, click here to complete the permission form.

CREATING A LINK TO AN ARTICLE ON YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG
You may prefer to simply create a link to one of our articles/pages, and this also applies to bloggers (since documents cannot be uploaded to most blogs ).

nlart USING ARTICLES IN PRINT

(HARD-COPY NEWSLETTERS, TRAINING MANUALS, ETC.)

You may request permission to republish one of our articles in a hard-copy newsletter, training manual, and/or other print publication. (See below for info on electronic newsletters.) NOTE: I do not use MS Publisher and am therefore not experienced in its use. If you use Publisher, there may be difficulties in inserting a PDF into your document, and I may not be able to assist with these difficulties.)
  • You may request the PDF version of an article, to "insert" into your publication, or the plain text version (Word) which you can cut and paste into your publication. And see the "Very Important" info below.
  • If you choose the PDF version of the article, it must be used "as is." It cannot be altered in any way, nor can it be scanned into your computer for purposes of altering the format, content, type style, and/or any other changes.
  • If you use the cut-and-paste version, you may reformat the font style and/or size to match the formatting of your publication, but no other changes—additions, deletions, consolidations, rewording, or altering the content in any way—are permitted.
  • After written permission is granted, you will be sent the version of the article (PDF or plain text) you're requesting, along with instructions.

VERY IMPORTANT! If you also archive your hard-copy newsletter, training manual, and/or other print publication on your website, before permission to republish a Disability is Natural article is granted, you must agree that you will save and upload the archived publication to your website as a PDF, with security enabled. If you do not do this, your material (as well as mine and/or others) is AT RISK OF PLAGIARISM and/or other unauthorized use by others, in violation of copyright and intellectual property laws.

Many people who prepare newsletters and other print materials may not be aware of the importance of  protecting their work (and the work of others), and they may not be familiar with how to do this, but the process is simple:

  • Save the document as a PDF;
  • Click on the "lock" icon, and select "2 Password Encrypt;"
  • Under "Permissions," click the box "Restrict editing and printing..." and enter a password;
  • Select "Printing Allowed-High Resolution," and "Changes Allowed-None," and check "Enable text access for screen readers..." (do NOT check "Enable copying of text...").

Before republishing any article in a print newsletter, training manual, or other hard-copy  publication, click here to complete the Permission Form.

mouseart USING ARTICLES IN ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTERS

You may request permission to republish one of our articles in an electronic newsletter, and permission is dependent on your agreement to follow the requirements described below, in order to prevent internet plagiarism and/or other misuse of content.

Some organizations E-mail their newsletters, while others create an electronic newsletter that is not E-mailed, but is archived on the organization's website. There are different conditions for republication depending on the type of newsletter; please see the specifics below. NOTE: I do not use MS Publisher and am therefore not experienced in its use. If you use Publisher, there may be difficulties in inserting a PDF into your document, and I may not be able to assist with these difficulties.)

A. FOR NEWSLETTERS THAT ARE E-MAILED (AND NOT ARCHIVED ON A WEBSITE)

  1. INCLUDING AN ARTICLE AS AN ATTACHMENT: As previously described, we do not permit any articles or material from this site to be copied and pasted into an E-mailed newsletter (as either plain text or HTML). Instead, if permission is granted, you can include the PDF of an article from this site as an attachment to your E-mailed newsletter, using the article "as is." Scanning the PDF version of the article to reformat it, or making any other changes, is strictly prohibited. Before adding an article from this site as an attachment to your E-mailed newsletter, click here to complete the Permission Form.

  2. INCLUDING A LINK TO THE ARTICLE IN YOUR E-MAILED NEWSLETTER: Instead of attaching an article to your newsletter, you could write a brief description about the article in your newsletter, and include a link to the article on our site. And thanks for the link!

B. FOR NEWSLETTERS THAT ARE ARCHIVED ON YOUR SITE (AND NOT E-MAILED):

Some organizations send an E-mail "notice" to their subscribers that their newsletter is "now available" on their website, but the actual content of the newsletter is not E-mailed. Instead, the newsletter is archived on the organization's website. If this is your situation:

  • You may request the PDF version of an article, to "insert" into your newsletter, or the plain text version (Word) which you can cut and paste into your newsletter.
  • After written permission is granted, you will be sent the republication version of the article (PDF or plain text) you're requesting, along with instructions.

VERY IMPORTANT! Before permission to republish a Disability is Natural article is granted, you must agree that you will save and upload your archived newsletter to your website as a PDF, with security enabled.

  • Save the document as a PDF;
  • Click on the "lock" icon, and select "2 Password Encrypt;"
  • Under "Permissions," click the box "Restrict editing and printing..." and enter a password;
  • Select "Printing Allowed-High Resolution," and "Changes Allowed-None," and check "Enable text access for screen readers..." (do NOT check "Enable copying of text...").

If you are not willing to archive/upload your newsletter as a PDF and enable security as described, permission to republish will not be granted.

Please click here to complete the permission form to republish a Disability is Natural article in your archived newsletter.

C. FOR NEWSLETTERS THAT ARE E-MAILED AND ARCHIVED ON YOUR SITE:

Some organizations E-mail the contents of their newsletter (in plain text or HTML), and also archive the newsletter on their website. If this is your situation, there are different options; please read all three before clicking on any of the permission links.

  1. INCLUDING AN ARTICLE AS AN ATTACHMENT IN YOUR E-MAILED NEWSLETTER: As previously described, we do not permit any articles or material from this site to be copied and pasted into an E-mailed newsletter (as either plain text or HTML).

You do not need to ask for permission to include a link. However, as a courtesy, we would appreciate knowing that you've linked to an article. Click here to share that information with us. And thanks for the link!

  3. REPUBLISHING THE ARTICLE WITHIN THE ARCHIVED NEWSLETTER: In addition to either of the above, and with permission, you can republish an article your ARCHIVED newsletter only (not in the E-mailed version), so long as the "saving and archiving" as a PDF with security enabled is followed, as described above in Section B. When completing the form below, indicate if you need the PDF of the article to "insert" into your archived newsletter or if you need the "cut and paste" version.

If you are not willing to archive/upload your newsletter as a PDF and enable security as described, permission to republish will not be granted.

Please click here to complete the permission form to republish a Disability is Natural article in your archived newsletter. This form also includes options to add "Including an Article as an Attachment" (#1 above) or "Including a Link to the Article"  (#2 above).
